Hierarchy

  

The Africa Taekwondo Association was registered in 1998 as a Section 21 Company.  The founding members were Richard West, Rose West, Andrew Mengel and Leon van Staden.  Richard spent 9 months training and teaching martial arts in the USA during 1996 and 1997. 

On his return, Richard decided that it was time to establish an African Association that promoted martial arts locally. By doing this, we are able to keep our hard earned local currency in South Africa.

Every year we stage a tournament for all of our students.  This tournament was first held in 2000 and is normally held in Pretoria during October.  Students compete in belt rank division for places in free sparring, patterns and weapons.
